I am searching for my great-great grandmother who arrived here in 1872. She was born in Scotland, April 1856, She arrived here alone and was a farm servant in Ireland. She married William A Crowther in 1877. I cannot find a birth record in Scotland and am Desperate to find her parents. Any info that anyone has would be greatly appreciated,

Surnames: Creelman
I tried looking for the birth of Elizabeth on Scotlands People but couldn't find it.

I could only think that perhaps her surname has been mis-spelt, so I tried using the "Fuzzy option" for her surname on Scotlands people. I didn't get any births exactly on the 1856 date of birth you say, but this is what came up... All first names are Elizabeth...

1858 Elizabeth Creedan born Hawick, Roxburgh.
1859 Creeley Old Monkland, Lanarkshire.
1859 Creighan Clyde, Glasgow.
1857 Freeman Stoneykirk, Wigtown.
1857 Greehan Old Monkland, Lanarkshire.
1857 Greenan Old Monkland, Lanarkshire
1858 Greenan Rutherglen, Glasgow.
And there were 3 Steedmans on the list and a Wheelan but to me they don't sound anything like Creelman so I would rule them out. The key thing that I think you would need to know is the district or area in Scotland where she was born. Have you ever seen any of the above places mentioned in the records relating to Elizabeth?

There were some Creelmans living at Kilmarnock, Ayrshire but unfortunately there was no Elizabeth with them. She could also have been using the first name Betty or Lizzie instead of Elizabeth or even Eliza. Any of these first alternative names with a mispelt surname could be throwing you off finding her. It is a difficult one.
