Irish Palatines immigrating to America?
I'm not sure if this is an absurd idea, but is there any chance that some of the Irish Palatines who were sent to Ireland in 1709 immigrated to America in later generations? I know some ended up in Canada. I have two surnames in my family tree that appear to be overtly German intermarried in Pennsylvania with original Pennsylvania Dutch Palatine immigrants but originate in Ireland in the late 1700s (1770s). One name, in particular, is Depp. Any chance it could be a skewed version of the Irish Palatine family Daub/Daupe/Doube/Doupe/Dobe/Dope.

Re: Irish Palatines immigrating to America?
Depp has Alsatian origin. Daub has Lausatian origin. During the Palatine Exodus, many mistakes in name registration occurred while entering or leaving ports. They may have been mistaken as the same name in Ireland. I am looking for a surname that had changed through 3 generations in Pennsylvania! Patschet to Patsches to Patches or Patchit. Arriving in Pennsylvania before 1840 from Ireland, William Patschet spoke a german dialect. I wonder what his last name may have been before 1709, as I have not found any similar surnames on the Irish Palatine lists.

Hmm...very interesting. I'm glad to hear of someone else with a similar sort of ancestor. I'll keep an eye out as I check things out for anything that could possible be related to Patschet. Pennsylvania Dutch/Low German made for some very interesting spelling in records.

Re: Irish Palatines immigrating to America?
We recently found in a census report that our oldest ancester Christian Baughman was born in Ireland, but resided in Bald Eagle Valley, Huntingdon Co., Pa. (now Snyder Twp., Blair Co., Pa.) I think his parents were part of the Palatine group sent to Ireland by the Queen of England. There was a Christopher Baughman immigrated to the same area and naturalized in 1802 from Prussia - probably a relative. The surname could have been Bachmann/Bachman. Have you tried the PALAM.ORG website? Jerry Baughman
