Surnames: Borrini, Brinie
In trying to research my great-grandmother Elsie May Brinie, I stumbled across a note someone had written and attatch to someone I believe to be her father, reguarding Italians in England, and was hoping someone could confirm this or tell me where I can try looking this information up. Here is the note:
"Being Italian in England at this time was not desireable, so Anthony changed it from the original "Borrini." The main family name in the UK was "Borrino," but aliases also included "Borrim" and "Brinie." "
I had been told previously that her father had changed his last name (so "Brinie" is not his official last name) which is why I believe this is him, however I have no proof...

Brothers Antonio and Serafino Borrino came to the UK c 1860
Serafino settled in Salford, Old Trafford, Manchester.
Antonio in Walsall in the Midlands
I am from Serafino's line, my paternal grandmother was Catherine Emma Borrino, Serafino's granddaughter (via William and Louisa Mary Ann { nee Jones} )
Angelo, the father of Antonio and Serafino is buried at Philips Park Cemetery in Manchester
