Piispanen, and Nelson, from Kivijarvi Finland to MA between 1893 and 1900
My grandmother was Sylvia Maria Piispanen, born in Kivijarvi Finland to Lauri Piispanen and Karoline Kinnunen. She was 2nd youngest of about 6 children I think. I know that all but the oldest came to Boston MA and settled in MA. Sylvia came here in 1900, with her sister Impi, and older brother Vilheim(Wiliam in US) in 1900. Father was already in MA(Quincy I think) as were most of her sibblings. I'd like name of ship date, port of dept, as well as date, and port of entry. My grandfather was Frank Nelson. His middle name may have been(haven't confirmed this) Nikkarossi(check spelling) His wifes name was Maria Nikula. I know Frank was also born in Kivivarvi(at least I think so). In 1912 Franks niece Tynne Nikkarossi, came to live with Frank, Maria, in W Quincy. She supposedly was an 8 or 9 year old orpahn. I'd like information on Frank and Maria's immigration. as well. Thank you bbn

Re: Piispanen, and Nelson, from Kivijarvi Finland to MA between 1893 and 1900
Frank Nelson & Maria Nikula were actually my great grandparents. Their son I think, was Alfred Nelson who married Sylvia Piiispanen, and they had one child, my dad in 1909 in Quincy. Frank and Alfred may be brothers, I'm just not sure. There is also Hjalmar Nelson and his wife Selma ? and they are connected to Frank and Alfred as well, and living in W Quincy at least in the early 1940's.

Re: Piispanen, and Nelson, from Kivijarvi Finland to MA between 1893 and 1900
Did you ever find out about the voyages your ancestors made? I had a search - but you might already have this information by this time.
Departing Liverpool and arriving Boston on the FRANCONIA on 31st Jul 1912
Tyyne Maria Nikkarikoski Aged 8 Friend's name: Frank Nelson Birth place: Tohalampi, Finland. Mother: Anna Kobhmainen Going to: Quincy.
The spelling of the names above aren't too clear but I think this is the Tynne you are looking for. ----------- Departing Liverpool and arriving Boston September 1900 on the ULTONIA. Wilheim Piispanen 16 Labourer Silvia 11 Yingi 9
They were going to: Lauri Piispanen, 14 Arthur St, Quincy, Massachusettes. Last residence: Hango --------------- I saw several voyagesof someone who may be Frank, but I would need to know his birth date to have a better chance of finding him. There was a voyage in 1909 of someone who (looks like) Frans Nelson, aged 31, and a Sauvia aged 28 (could this be Sylvia?) and they were with two children Mary aged 2, and Annie ?(the writing is poor)who is an infant. They are from Stull ??? Finland
Another voyage has a Frank Nelson arriving Boston 13 July 1908 and he is 38. He is with Mrs Mary E Nelson, but they are said to be going to Ohio.
Hope this helps a little. (Tyyne is second from the foot of the attachment)

Re: Piispanen, and Nelson, from Kivijarvi Finland to MA between 1893 and 1900
My grandmother came to US to her dads Lauri Piispanen with her brother Wilheim as stated, but her sister was Impi Johanna not Yingi. How could that have been misread so badly.? Grandmother was Sylvia. The 3 came to US in 1900. I need to ask if its possible to find out about Anna Kobhmainen. Where and when was she born, who did she marry, when and where did she die? I am asking because I was told several times that Tyyne was an orphan when she came to live with Frank Nelson(uncle I believe) age 8. and just need to find out about her mom, because I know nothing about her as of yet.
I don't know Franks dob, but I do know he was married to Maria Nikula. I'm quite sure they were married in Finland, but not positive. Can any information be found on Maria Nikula? I know nothing about her other than her marriage.
Thank you Barbara
