I am in the process of searching for my great-grandfather. He became separated from my great-grandmother and left the family sometime after 1926. I have his WWI draft card with his signature and have recently found some documents online for another man in which the signature seems a bit similar - the thing is the second man has a whole different life than my great-grandfather (different arrival - according to his naturalization, family, different religious background than I had thought) so in theory this man wouldn't be my great-grandfather but I can't get over the signatures and it is really staying with me. Knowing what I know it is possible that my great-grandfather could have had a second family but if this is him he would not have been telling the truth as to his arrival date on his naturalization as he married my great-grandmother in 1908 in NYC - the second gentleman arrives in the 1920's. Second gentleman has hazel eyes - my great-grandfather's are listed as blue but I do know hazel eyes appear to change colors - something I've seen in the eyes on that side of my family (a stretch I know but again I can't get past these signatures). The second man says his he is Hebrew, I had assumed my great-grandfather was catholic as my great-grandparents were married in the catholic church (I have marriage record) but I know nothing about his life prior to the marriage so I could be wrong on that. Months of birth are also different. I know I'm grasping at straws but the signatures seem so similar - the way Joe is written and also the sk in the last name. On a final note my family at that time used variations of our last name so I have documents that say - Adamczyk, Damsky, Adamsky, Damski and Adamski so the use of different last names is possible. Please take a look and give me your opinions. I would definitely not make an assumption about identity based on the signatures but I'd like others opinions on the similarity. First document is my great-grandfather. Second and third is the second gentleman's.
