The census is not to be deemed as absolutely accurate neither is family lore or hearsay.
I find 5 family trees where Lawrence and Anna appear, the all give 1891 as her birthdate but 4 cite census records as their source for this.... again the census is not a reliable source... the reason is the census taker came to the home and asked whoever was there at the time...
I find 2 Anna ZIMMERMANs in the 1900 census both in Baltimore one living on High St about 3 miles from Bouldin, the other on W. Baltimore about 5 miles from Bouldin.
The family below lived at 424 High St all of them born in Maryland
Name Age
Joseph Zimmerman 35
Mary Zimmerman 37
Annie Zimmerman 4 birthdate listed as Feb 1988 BUT there is some marking over this and it is hard to say what the census taker was trying to record
Mary Zimmerman 9
Maggie Zimmerman 7
Charles Zimmerman 3
Kate Zimmerman 2/12
The family below lived at 626 W. Baltimore all were US born except the mother, Annie, who was born in Germany
Name Age
Frek Zimmerman 45
Annie Zimmerman 39
Thersera Zimmerman 15
Lizzie Zimmerman 11
Annie Zimmerman 11 birthdate listed as Feb 1889
Henry Richstein 27 boarder
You really need to give yourself 2 years either side of a birthdates, marriage dates and death dates which are given without proof. What is proof? A birth certificate but many places did not have civil registrations of birth (such as where I live in Cleveland, which required civil registration of births beginning in 1908 or where my family is from in Croatia where civil registration was not required until after WW II)..... In this case then you will need to look for church records such as baptismal records. Or Lawrence and Anna's wedding certificate should have at least their ages at the time of birth and perhaps their parents names.
Judging by what I see with the 5 family trees no one has really done much research to locate these things....
I do have a question.... you stated something about immigrants lieing to census takers, yet none of these people seem to have been immigrants? Where did you get the idea that they were immigrants?
Now your fun begins
