Steamships from Korinthos, Greece to NYC

My grandfather Aristotle "Harry" Zachos claimed to have been a "stow away" on a steamship that left from Korinthos, Greece in 1909. When I look at the steamships that arrived in NYC, I do not see any that came from Korinthos, only Patras, Pireaus, and Kalamata.

Does anyone have any knowledge of steamships that left from Korinthos in 1909?

I am not going to be any help, but my husband's grandfather said he came here in 1876 and I have never been able to find him on any passenger lists either. I'm assuming he was also a stow-away? I found an old newspaper clipping that said he led an army of Greek men back to Greece to help fight in the Baltic War. It said he travelled to NY in order to go. You would think that I would at least have been able to trace his departure and subsequent arrival then, but nothing! I have thought for quite a long time now, that he went by two different names? We know him as John Zarbs, but can't imagine what his true name was. Searching under John Zarbs has been a dead end for just about everything except on some of the census reports where there has been a slight variation in spelling.

OK, this may not be super helpful, but interesting to know, at least.
Korinthos= Corinth. Look at a map. It's on the isthmus between the mainland and the Peloponnese. There's a canal through the isthmus. They used to leave from Corinth, through the canal, because, otherwise, you have to sail all the way around. It's why you don't usually see it listed, because it was easier to take ship somewhere else.

Given the time period, the canal was becoming less of an option for the modern ships (it's really narrow), which means he may have jumped a ship from Corinth and then another from one of the larger ports. Good luck! I know we had a really hard time finding info on my husband's family, because Ellis Island took all sorts of tries at spelling their names!
