Sailing from Bremen Germany to South Hampton England to New York in 1875

Can anyone tell me how many days it took to sail from Bremen Germany to South Hampton England. Take on passengers and I think additional supplies and then sail to New York in the spring of 1875?
I found my Great Grandparents aboard the SS Rhine sailed from Bremen Germany to South Hampton and then to New York. I am just curious about how they were aboard the ship, and if they were allowed to get off the ship while they were in England. Also can anyone tell me how much steerage cost?
Thank You

I can't help with your question, but wonder if your ancestors actually came from Germany or just sailed from there? My great grandmother lists Bavaria as her birth country on the 1870 census and Austria 10 years later, with both her parents born in Austria. I may have found her as a passenger from Bremen, Germany, but can't be sure.

My Great Grandfather listed his country of birth as Germany in the 1880 and 1890 US Census

My great great grandfather and his wife left Bremen in March 1885 aboard the SS Rhein and arrived in New York in June 1885.
There is a site International Ships Transcribers Guild. Google the name then search for the ship name, then scroll through the names until you find your ancestors.
Or send me the information you have and I will do the search and get back to you.
