Hello ,
Does anyone know if there was a ship under the name Dublin around 1820 in Dublin Ireland.
I have been trying to find my g, grandfathers birth without success. His name is William Clark b abt 1820 Dublin .

His father also William was in the army he fought in the Napolian wars, met his wife and married in England. The army then travelled to Ireland where my G,gandfather was born . The army then went to Canada they had 2 more childrenthere whom i have found. But i cannot find William,s birth in Ireland.

Someone told me there was a ship called Dublin where the army people stayed during thier time in Ireland. How true this is i do not know? but if it is how do i find info about the ship?

thanking you for your time and patience in advance.
Flo

A ship named "The City of Dublin" 1824 - 1840 sailed between Dublin and Liverpool.

I also found a William Clark (Clarke) born 02- Jul - 1821 in Dublin to William Clarke and Mary Flanagan they also had three other children born in Dublin James born in 1825, Elizabeth born in 1827 and Eliza born in 1834.

Thank you Tim,

If my g,g grandad William Clark was born on that ship, how would i get to look for birth?
although he was b 1820/21 Dublin.

William.s mother was French Marie Augustine Joshephe Delavar, she went by the name of Augustine on census, but in England Marie was pronounced Mary on her death cert.

There may have been another son Thomas b Dublin also abt 1824.Only there is a mix up on the 1841 census he was aged 15 but was named last being born Sedgley, but if he was age 15 he would have been second eldest and born Dublin Ireland.

After they travelled with the army to Nova scotia Canada my ggg grandparents William Clark b 1789 and Augustine went back to Sedgley England abt 1831/2 where they had another 2 children ( or 3 if Thomas was 5 and not 15 as it stated on 1841)

thanks again for your time.

Flo, try posting on the Dublin, Ireland message board for help with your CLARKS in Dublin. I know you posted on that board quite a while ago, but it looks like you have a little more information now that someone can use to help you.
