Surnames: FINLEY, PHILLIPS, IRELAND, ONTARIO CANADA, ST.LAWRENCE CO. NEW YORK
I need help finding my grandfather, JOHN ROBERT FINLEY, he was born abt 1804, some say Cork, I have a hard time believing that because he was Methodist, almost all of Cork is Catholic, I wrote to the Irish Family History Society, and they said there were 54 individuals listed with surname ( land owners ) FINLEY, spread through 12 of the 32 counties of Ireland, the largest number in anyone county was 17 in Co. Cavan followed by 12 in Co. Down. There were 7 in Co. Monaghan and 5 in Co. Louth with 3 in Co. Meath. these last 3 counties all adjoin Co. Cavan. I am thinking he left Ireland abt 1822, he came into Ontario Canada and married my grandmother MARY PHILLIPS born abt 1801 in Ontario Province Canada, I am thinking they married in ONTARIO somewhere. I dont know if grandfather came to Canada with a mum or dad, brother, sister, any help would be much needed, I have beeb looking for over 15 years, and thank you for all your time and help, thank you, Oh they then settled in MACOMB NEW YORK, ST.LAWRENCE CO. tHANK YOU!
