we believe they landed in either philadelphia or baltimore. because some of their children were born in pa. my great grandfather james mcginley also changed the family name from mc ginley to ginley due to the discrimination against the irish in america in 1861. my great grandmother margaret shevlin had married another irishman who died on the boat over. when her husband died my great grandfather james stepped up and said i will marry her she won't have to go back to ireland. they had planned to send her back because i guess they didn't want a single widowed woman coming here with no means of support.
