I'm trying to learn more about Tyyne Maria Nikkarikoski.
Supposedly she was an 8 year old orphan traveling to Quincy Ma from Finland, to live with her uncle Frank and his wife.
Tyyne was on the Franconia, that left Liverpool and arrived in Boston in 1912.
I'm not sure if she was traveling alone, or not(age 8 seems a bit young to travel that distance alone in my opionon.) Who may have been traveling with her, what is the connection(family/friend etc)
I'm a bit confused too, because while I was told she was an orphan, her mother's listed as Hilma Nikkarikoski. and elsewhere I read of a Hilma Nikkarkoski immigrating to Quincy Ma (not sure if its at the same time or not)
Also Frank was listed someplace as Frank "Nikkarikoski" Nelson. and his wife was Maria Nikkarikoski. All along I though Frank , was just Frank Nelson, and Maria, was Maria Nikula, as they appeared on my grandparents marriage certificate issued in Quincy Ma in 1908. (Jan). Frank, was my grandfathers father. Maria his mother. Their son was Alfred Nelson(my grandfather) . Alfred and Sylivia Maria Piispanen were married in Quincy Ma in Jan 1908.
Did cousin marry? This would explain it I guess, but now I'm wondering if Hilma and Frank, or Maria and Hilma were siblings?
If this is confusing I'm sorry, but I'm confused still too, about the name issue. Someone also had told me that knew Tyyne that her name was Nelson not Nikkarikoski. HELP1.
If anyone can help resolve this confusion I'd really appreciate it, and if there is anyway of finding out who Tyyne's father was that would be a very much appreciated added plus.
Thank you one and all.
Sam
