Does anyone have information on how the survivors from this disaster finally got to America? Information I have collected says that they were taken to Fayal or (Faial) Island in the Azores, and then taken to New York, some by the Sarah, some by other merchant ships. My ancestor did not get to New York until 1850, the story being that he was held up in the Azores for some time before getting to America. Looking for a passenger list that includes the survivors of the Caleb Grimshaw that sunk November, 1849, or anyone else that has tracked down an ancestor surviving the disaster. Any info will help. Thank you.
