Surnames: Wiechowski
Would like information on my gr gr grandparents who left Prussia in 1884/1885. They are Frank or Francis Wiechowski or Wikowski b. 1858 in W Prussia and Marianna Schreiber b. 1861 Prussia. Their daughter Julia was born 1884, Germany, I believe in the Black Forest area. Frank's death certificate lists his father as Michael Wiechowski and mother Anna Dehere. Marianna's father was John Schreiber. What route did they take to the US. Any information on their parents or siblings would be great. Marriage certificate, birth records, death records would be helpful. This is my second request, please help.

There is one Franz Wikowski, born 1858 in the Hamburg passenger lists. He travelled 1. Apr. 1887 from Hamburg to Philadelphia on the "Kaiser". He was alone, without a wife. His last place in Germany was "Rekow, Pommern". This could fit to a possible birthplace in Westpreussen because it is neighbouring.
There are some birth records for Wikowski or Wiechowski, but no one fits.
The questions are:
1. Could it be possible, that Marianna Schreiber went some years befor to the US? Maybe with another first husband?
2. You are sure, that the daughter Julia was born in the Black Forest area??

Julia's birth in the Black Forest area was information I got from a distant family member I met on Ancestry but she was born in 1884 and her sister Frances was born in the US in 1885. I suppose Frank could have traveled at a later time. The first record I have of him in this country is the 1910 Michigan census. The relative I met on Ancestry was related to one of their sons. She had less information than I did except for the Black Forest detail. My relative is Frances.

I think that there is a high chance that this man is your ancestor.
This Rekow (correct written Reckow) could be the Reckow in the former Kreis Lauenburg in the east of Pommern (today Rekowo Leborskie) near to Westpreussen (there were also Reckows in other parts of Pommern). Maybe he lived and worked there for one or two years.
The online records for Westpreussen are not complete now. May be you will find online-records in some months or years.
The reason for me to doubt the birth of Julia in the Black Forest is, that there was very few migration from Westpreussen to the southwest of Germany in those days. They "normally" migrated to neighbouring areas, to Berlin or to the industrial area at the Ruhr (or direct to the US).
But of course exceptions are possible.
