Are you looking for their ship manifest?

You stated "written as, Pildescue, at landing" In fact names were NOT recorded at landing. Ship manifests were prepared at the port of departure with info taken from the immigrant's passport.

I find several PILDESKU arrivals but none in 1907. Frank was not likely his original name.

Hi Robert, I just asked, Vital Records, for my great-grandfather's death certificate. My great-grandmother, Clara, lived with her, youngest daughter, Minnie, in NJ, after, Frank, passed. Finding the past, is like embroidery. The threads, all come together, and create a picture. Diane

Hi again, I am going to take a look at the paperwork tomorrow. I keep using, my memory....and I see, 1907, when Roumanian Jews, were expelled from their country. I am thinking that I, left research in a photo box, with a photo, that may be, Clara. My grandmother, looked a little like the woman in the photo, but no one had the name. I see a connection, since I have been doing research.

Hi, Robert, at landing, the person, who wrote their name, wrote, Pildescue. Frank, is probably a variation, of Franz, or a, Roumanian derivative. My dad, added the name, Peldeson. I am looking forward to holding his, death certificate, in my hands. I have a list, of Pildescu's, buried in, Washington Cemetery, in Brooklyn, and one is buried, upstate. I haven't found, Frank's place, yet. It's a mystery. My 82 yr. old auntie, Rho, is my mom's half-sister, and is not aware of her mom's life, prior to her marriage to her dad. She has, dementia, but has a good memory of some things. It seems, Frank, one or two, alias'. The family, owned their own, home in, Brooklyn, and the daughters, all worked. They lost, Jenny, in the, Shirtwaist Triangle Fire. Two of her, cousins died in the fire too. I am happy to have the help, tracking the family. I just wish, I was able to find paperwork, in Roman. Diane

I have already mentioned this in a previous post.

NO names were written at landing! The manifest was created in Europe at the port of departure with info taken from the immigrants passport. The passport was obtained in their homeland. This is not to say mistakes were not made

Hi Robert, I am guilty, of multi-tasking, chronic pain meds, and a house full of contractors, and boxes. My daughter, will be here, Thanksgiving weekend, and I will ask her to help me find the info..I am thinking, that they came across on a, German ship, and whoever signed them in, used the, "e". I looked in a Roumanian dictionary, and a variation of the name, is a word. I also, understand, Foldes, Pildis, and variations, could be relatives, from Hungary, and neighboring countries. The tribes, wandered in Eastern Europe, so who knows, any of the facts. Robert, you are a rock!

Hi Diane,

I hope you and family have a pleasant Thanksgiving. When you have time, I have three questions about your search.
_________________________________________________________

1. Do you have definite direct knowledge &/or documentation that the "Jennie Pildescu" who died in the tragic Triangle Factory Fire in 1911 was a daughter of your great-grandparents, Frank & Clara Pildescu?

- Have you seen the info in the link below?

3. Robert mentions Clara's 1930 Census (although I didn't find it), but have you found the family in the 1910 Census yet?

IF you are absolutely positive that the "Jennie Pildescu" who died in 1911 was a daughter of your great grandparents, then I MAY have found the family in the 1910 Census. ***However, the surname listed is nothing like "Pildescu" !

I am temporarily not mentioning the name so as to not muddy the search, at least until you let us know how sure you are of the info you've listed.

TOM

p.s. Please don't take offense, but your posts will be much easier to read if you will not throw in so many random commas. :) Hope to hear from you.

Good morning, and a Happy Thanksgiving. I am on the west coast, so it's early.

To answer your questions: Yes, I am sure, that the surnames, Pildescu's/Pildescue's/or Pelderson have been used for my family's name. I have a photo, of Clara's gravestone and she was buried, with the, last name, Pildescu. My grandma, Lucy, is listed, as a Lucca, in the 1930 census. I am sure, about her sister's and the Triangle Shirtwaist Fire. My family, told us about our family loss. I also have, one of the, Fire, histories, and a photo, of Jennie's grave. I have a tendency to spell her first name, a couple of different ways. Minnie, was my, grandma Lucy's, closest sister. When, Frank, died, Clara, lived with Minnie.

The 1910 census, includes a, Pildescu. There is also the family of, Marcu(s) Pildescu, listed by census. I was able to research his great help to the, jewish roumanian community. Both families are listed as emmigrating from, Roman, Roumania, my family's city. My guess, is that we are all related in some way. It's so good to share, my research with other researchers. Thank-you. Diane
