Jacob Smedley was my great-grandfather, I found the papers of when he became a citizen of the USA. The only information it gives is that he came over in 1855 , that the ship departed from Liverpool and landed in New York . In some other papers, he said his father had bound (his word ) him to a man named Jeffs (don't know if the spelling is right or if its first or last name), and he talk of "Ironworks". I have no other names, any help out there ??, please it's a real BRICK WALL !Where can I look ?
