Re: how Irish got to Bathurst area New Brunswick Canada c1826
Hi Wayne: I am responding to the above note you sent to me re Dennis Sheehan but in two respects: 1) You drew to my attention that your Sheahan family in Bathurst, NB matched with names/dates of mine i.e. Thomas Sheahan m. Anna Breen and family. I tried to find Thomas in Cork unsuccessfully and maintain at this date that my Sheahans came from Limerick. Can you explain the discrepancy to me in our records? I would love to see your Sheahan tree if possible. 2) I went to Wiki and searched for Sheehan in Cork. What caught my eye was a biographical history on Canon Patrick Augustine Sheehan, b. 1852 in Mallow, Cork. The sponsors at his baptism were Timothy CRONIN and Mary Ann Relehan. You mentioned your GGGrandmother was Catherine Cronin b. 1817 m. Denis Sheahan b. 1819. Canon Patrick had a brother Denis. Take a look at Wiki, a 2 page bio. that may lead back to the Cronins. Would be interested if you are able to make a connection.

Hi Wayne. In regard to your question re Wiki and your famous ancestor Rev. Patrick Sheehan you just go to Wikipedia, then in search box type in Rev Patrick Sheehan. There is a ton of info on him. should be fun for you to connect the dots Cronin and Sheehan in Cork. Gail

Re: how Irish got to Bathurst area New Brunswick Canada c1826
Hi Wayne: Responding to your 2002 re Irish families in Bathurst, N.B. Over my years studying my 4 Irish branches, I read about Irish community settling in St. Andrews 1820-1850. May have read this in Jim Rees' Surplus People but not sure. This might be helpful or perhaps not. gail
