getting info from immigration Canada

I am trying to get a copy of my grandparents immigration records when they came here in the 50's. Immigration Canada keeps telling me i need to fill out this info source sheet, but the sheet talks about the actual applicant and asks for file numbers and such. I feel like they keep giving me the runaround and are not answering my questions properly. Is there an easier way to get access to these files? My dad is the executor of their will and they have both been gone for at least 5 years now so I will have no problem with my dad filling them out, it just doesn't make a lot of sense in what we are asking for.

Alexander Peter Fritz Koch

I'm seeking information on how to find Alexander Peter Fritz Koch b. 1879 Hamburg, after he was interred on the Isle of Man and sent back to Germany in 1918. He was married in 1904 to Agnes Hannah Collins in Kent and has his father's name recorded as Alexander (Deceased) Butcher.
Also a Butcher, it appears that my Alexander Koch went to England from Hamburg on a vessel called the Peregrine in 1901. I am doing research for his great grandaughter here in Australia and have come to a dead end. His wife Agnes never heard from him again. Any information or guidance would be much appreciated.
Kind Regards
Valerie

I found
Otto Brauser arrived 15. September 1910 from Hamburg on the
President Grant (started 4.Sept.1910). He was 25 years, born
1885 - birth loc. Orlowerfeade (it is Orlofferfelde Kreis
Marienburg/Westpreussen I think. The last residence was
Berlin, his mother was Justine (?) Brauser from Lengsfuhr
(??). He was going to his cousin Reinhard Brauser.
A Reinhard Brauser I don`t find, only a Richard Brauser,
born 1878 from Ufhoven, Provinz Sachsen. He was going with
his wife and 3 children to the uncle Reinhold Brauser to
Drummond/Oklahoma.
What do you think?
Have a look at www.google.de
Type in Orlofferfelde Kreis Marienburg
and you will find Brauser.

Mary was married to Bean. I don't know what happen. But she was a Bannister when she died. All the information I have came from a letter written to my grandmother, Dorothy Reimiller when Mary died. Mary's estate was devide among her heirs. My grandmother received Philllipina's portion.
I pieced the family together from that letter. I can fill in Phillipine's information, and I gave you most of what I knew about Daniel. In addition to Daniel in Oklahoma, I have John S in Tennessee, Mary and Anna in Ontario, Lena Paul in California, Elizabeth and Katherine in Michigan and Jacob in New York.
Norma
Ngreenjean@aol.com
I am sorry that I did not respond to your message sooner. I must have over looked it. I am hoping that we are of the some Wagner line. There are so many names that are the same. The Daniel S. Wagner that I have was Phillipine's brother. He was born in 1860 in Canada, and died in 1946 in Oklahoma. He was married to Henrietta Heyden. He had only one son that I know of, Rengaw Daniel Wagner. Rengaw (Wagner spelled backwards)was born November 23, 1883 in Brantford, Ontario. He died January 30, 1960 in St. Louis, Missouri. Phillipine and Daniel's mother and father were Daniel Wagner and Elizabeth Ritz. Their chldren were: Phillipine b 1853, Daniel S b 1860, John S B 1864, Mary (Bannister) b 1866 d 1943 Ont, Anna (Wiederhoff) b 1868, Lena (Paul) b 1869, Elizabeth (Lucas), Katherine (McCleery), and Jacob L. If these is the same family, I would love to know more.
Norma
St.Louis, Mo
Ngreenjeans@aol.com

I was wondering if you ever found an answer to your query. My great-great grandmother's name was Lena Neitzel but no one in the family has any real information about her or her ancestors. I know she married Fritz Schneider (that might be your Friedrich August) of Texas. I'm not sure about Fritz's family but most of the rest of my family tree came from the state of Brandenburg in East Germany in the 1850s and 60s.

Kevin

I've looked through several websites and it appears that the 1840's was a decade of poor records and the period right before everyone kept records officially. Appreciate the help.

Hi Elaine!

I was so excited to read your e-mail! You are my cousin :-) Amy Ruth Clendinneng is my Great Grandmother...I am related to her by her son, Melville Boston (my Grandpa).

I am incredibly sorry to hear of your father's passing. I am familiar with that situation as my father passed away in 2005. Actually the primary reason why I decided to do family research was that I wanted to find out about my father's roots and my mother's as well. It is kind of a healing activity. My mother is still alive and well as she is 63.

As for our Ernestine, I know a lot more information and I would love to chat or e-mail with you sometime. I was told the interesting story of Ernestine's voyage by my Great Aunt Thelma and through my Grandfather's brother's writings (his name was Frank Sinclair Boston). Thelma and Frank were quite certain that Ernestine had immigrated from Hamburg, Germany with the parents just as you say. I hired a researcher and I subsequently discovered that two 'Beitsch' girls were living in the Female Protestant Orphanage in Quebec in the 1861 census. Their first initials were 'E'. They would have stayed their until age 21 and then gone into domestic servant work. German is listed as their nationality. Also, the researcher found an immigration report from a Harbourmaster in Quebec (July 1853). He noted that two German girls approached them because they couldn't find their mother upon arrival..they gave their last names as Bothe. The mother had traveled with them but either abandoned them or got away from the girls somehow. They were given temporary lodgings and then placed into the orphanage. I also have pictures of Ernestine as well as her daughters and husband, John Clendinneng.

I am in the strong belief now that Ernestine's sister's name was Elisabetha as Thelma is certain it was. The researcher also found two Prussian baptismal records - one is for Elisabetha Baisch (of the same father) and the other for Ernestine Sophie Bode (of the same father, different mother).

This is still a bit of a mystery to me! Thank you so much for getting in touch. I was so happy to see a message from you in my inbox! My e-mail is angela.joyce02@gmail.com. I also researched Ernestine Sophie's lineage back many generations but I am not 100 percent sure it is correct.

Best Wishes,

Angela Joyce

Hello Angela,

My father, Roy Sinclair Clendinneng, passed away on August 24, 2010. He told me that Ernestine Beach arrived in Canada with a sister, and yes, they lost their parents on the voyage. I do not know the sister's name. He was under the impression that they were Dutch.

I must thank you for providing so much information on my family tree. I am wondering what your connection to my family is.

I hope to hear from you in the near future.

Best regards,

Elaine Clendinneng

I do have a Maria/Mary, but she is accounted for and married a Richard Bean. Although the other info you described does not fit anything else I have, I am curious about the Location. Two of Phillipina's sisters - Elizabeth and Katherina were married in Ann Arbor. I am wondering what drew them there? Katherina married in 1878 to John McCleery and Eliz in 1874 to John Frederick Lucas.

Daniel and Elizabeth Wagner arrived in New York aboard the Charlemainge - He is found in Image 8 along with, what I believe is his brother Jacob (but I have been unable to trace him further - 2 Jacobs lived in New Hamburg at the same time.)
She can be found in Image 2 as Elise Wagner - at least I assumed it was her..the age was correct. Biblical records indicated they left on "12 of March 1853, arrival in New York 29th April 1853, arrival in New Hamburg on the 11th of May 1853." She delivered a child in July of that year.
The record is easily found searching the arival date and Wagner. I have no idea if there was a group of them or not. It is quite possible.
Vicky
Please let me know if anybody has any information on an Ernestine BEACH (or family) who immigrated to Montreal around 1849-1859. Her parents supposedly died on the ship and, her and her siblings (unknown names) were tagged and sent to an orphanage in Montreal. Note: Her surname 'BEACH" may have been altered from something more Germanic like BITSCH.

Cheers.

Seeking immigration records for Charles/Carl Lang & wife Johanna/Hannah Neimeyer

Hello

I'm seeking immigration records or other records from which I can verify their places of birth. Their eldest son, Herrmann, believed they were both born in Mecklenburg Strelitz.

I believe Charles Lang was born abt 1819 Germany and immigrated to Canada sometime before Nov 1857 - possibly arriving in America beforehand. The first census I can find on him is the 1871 Canadian Census on which he, his wife and all but their last child are residing in Perth, Ontario. By the 1881 Canadian Census, he had relocated to Woolwich Twp., Waterloo, Ontario where he died on 25 Jun 1887. The place of birth on his death certificate mentions Sperin, Germany but I find no such place. He was was a Lutheran. His occupation was tailor.

I believe his wife Johanna Niemeyer was born 24 May 1830 in Germany. She may have immigrated with her husband to Canada but I have no proof. She also appears in the 1891 and 1901 Canadian census residing with her youngest son Christian. She died on 5 Sep 1909 in Berlin Twp., Waterloo North, Ontario, Canada.

If you can help me obtain copies or transcripts of their immigration records or other records to verify their places of birth, I would greatly appreciate hearing back from you.

Many thanks
Patti Molenaar
I am the decendent of Mary Louisa Guhde. Written as Morry on every censes. I cant find any record of Fredericks arrival, but according to the Hamburg passenger list Emilie arrived on the ship Rugia in 1885 it was captained by Captain Albers. Emilie apparently traveled alone with her 4 children, Agnes Fritz Max and Elise. Hope this helps

Hello -
I am descended from the Zingers of Maryhill, Ontario out of Soufflenheim, Alsace-Loraine. My Zinger (Johanna, according to my dad) married Franz Kaupa and moved to Grand Rapids Michigan. They had a large family, one of whom was my grandmother, Mary Wilhemina Kaupa. She married Charles B. Ros and they had two children-one of whom was my dad.

My sister does the real work in the family history and has visited Maryhill and done some work there. We have a couple of pictures of "Lou" Zinger outside his home in Ontario.
It's great to make a contact with other Zingers.

But, to find them, where they lived in Germany/Poland I have to take the other way and now I try to figure out, where the departure town was - Germany or Liverpool? The history doesn't say much about their living town here (there is a problem with the spelling and so they wrote down wrong towns)
Where I could find from where the ship came in?
I can also find the microfilm no.

Merry christmas,
Clara

Noulletts came to Canada from Odessa 1912

Mike Noullett (Noullette) and his wife Katherine Fries(z)came to Canada from Kherson, and Nikolayiev (sp?) via Odessa in 1912, landing at Halifax first, then on to Montreal (I think), and then by rail to Alberta where they homesteaded with two other families -- the Urlachers and the Peters -- on a homestead they called the Neudorf Colony. This homestead was near Camrose and Bawlf, Alberta.

I am trying to find these families before they left Kherson, and trying to find out how a Noullette (from the Alsace province, I think) came to be in the Ukraine.

Also, my mother (a grandchild of Mike and Katherine) was a devout Catholic, yet her mother (Mike's son's wife) spoke Yiddish and her surname was Hearsch or Hirsch -- some Jewish in there somewhere -- and the Neudorf Colony seemed to reflect Mennonite culture --

so I am confused how these three religious groups came into one, before they all came to Canada.

Pat Bacon, Calgary, Alberta Mike's great grand-daughter.

I have a great-great grandfather Xavier Conrad who married a Cunigunda. According to the 1880 Census he would have been born in 1847 in New York - parents born in Germany. He and Cunigunda (born in NY 1851, parents born in Germany.)
They had 5 children. At the time of the 1880 Census they were: (names and ages) Maggie 9, Catherine 6, Jacob 5, Lorenz 2, and Joseph 4/12 which I took to mean he was 4 months old. They were living in Brooklyn, NY. I would love to hear from someone who is part of this family tree.

Re: Germany to Canada in 1906

Just so you know, it's not the scanning that was done poorly, it was the original microfilming that was done in the 1950s. The same poor quality holds true for a large portion of the 1911 census records. Also, remember that some of the documents were more than 50 years old before they were microfilmed. You do have the option of obtaining the original microfilms on inter-library loan from the National Archives.

I'm not sure how much information you would find on the original passenger list ... it wasn't until later that detailed information about the person's origin was written into the manifest; you may be unlucky in that all it will say is that they were from Germany.

For whom are you looking?

Germany to Canada in 1906
I'd appreciate any assistance on how to locate a family that supposedly arrived in Canada from Germany sometime during 1906. In looking at the passanger lists digitized by LAC I'm totally dumbfounded that they have been scanned at a resolution that makes them virtually illegible. What a waste of time, money, and effort! I also can't find them arriving at Ellis Island (www.ellisisland.org). What other options are there?

Thanks,
Ken
http://ca.geocities.com/scheffkg.rm/gen.html

NEUROHR FAMILY ~ GERMANY TO AMERICA

I am researching the NEUROHR family with roots in Germany. The names that I am researching are :
JOHN F. NEUROHR , WIFE AUGUSTA HAUCK NEUROHR and INFANT JOHN, came to America thru Ellis Island in 1909. I do not know the reason but JOHN F. NEUROHR used his brother JAKOB NEUROHR'S passport. The ship manifest stated that they were going to UNCLE PHILIP NEUROHR'S house.

PHILIP NEUROHR'S wife was ELIZABETH , his daughters are,ANNA , MARIA, EMMA E. NEUROHR.
PHILIP NEUROHR immigrated to America abt. 1882-1885,, The wife ELIZABETH had died by 1910 she was not on the census after 1900 and PHILIP NEUROHR is listed as widower in 1910. The daughters are all born in Ohio, I can not find PHILIP NEUROHR or the daughters after the 1920 census.

I know that there was a Grandfather of JOHN F.. NEUROHR living in ohio , and it is believed he may have died before JOHN F. NEUROHR and his family arrived in America. I do not have the name of the Grandfather, but do know that he had two daughters , I do not know their names , both the daughters married Irish Cops.

Upon arriving in America, the JOHN F. NEUROHR family went to Cincinnati Ohio, and after 1910 moved to Michigan .

JOHN AND AUGUSTA's children are: JOHN, MARGURAITE{MARGE] ,CHARLES, HELEN, JOSEPH, ROBERT, EDWARD, EDWIN, HERMAN,:

Any information is welcome, Please email me direct, CarNeuro@aol.com
Thank You: Carol Neurohr
