Hello

I'm seeking immigration records or other records from which I can verify their places of birth. Their eldest son, Herrmann, believed they were both born in Mecklenburg Strelitz.

I believe Charles Lang was born abt 1819 Germany and immigrated to Canada sometime before Nov 1857 - possibly arriving in America beforehand. The first census I can find on him is the 1871 Canadian Census on which he, his wife and all but their last child are residing in Perth, Ontario. By the 1881 Canadian Census, he had relocated to Woolwich Twp., Waterloo, Ontario where he died on 25 Jun 1887. The place of birth on his death certificate mentions Sperin, Germany but I find no such place. He was was a Lutheran. His occupation was tailor.

I believe his wife Johanna Niemeyer was born 24 May 1830 in Germany. She may have immigrated with her husband to Canada but I have no proof. She also appears in the 1891 and 1901 Canadian census residing with her youngest son Christian. She died on 5 Sep 1909 in Berlin Twp., Waterloo North, Ontario, Canada.

If you can help me obtain copies or transcripts of their immigration records or other records to verify their places of birth, I would greatly appreciate hearing back from you.

Many thanks
Patti Molenaar
