I am looking for information on my ggrandparents, Peter and Rebecca Page, from Bedfordshire, who were sponsored by East London Emigration Fund, to go to Canada in April 1870.

Mrs. Hobart was the treasurer of this charity. I would like to know if there are any records still in existance, on the families that emigrated.

Any info would be most greatly appreciated.

Lila,
I would also be interested in this.
My GGGGrandfather and family also traveled to canada about this time on a ship SS Ganges.
How did you find out who sponsored them?
My lot only stayed a few years and the returned.

Hi Linda,
I was searching for the ship they came on. I knew the year they emigrated, but not the ship.

I found this in Geneas web site typed in their surname and it came up that they were in their data base.

I sent an e-mail to http://www.inGeneas.com they sent me the transcription of the ship info. it was $6.

It also contained the microfilm number for the passenger list, and at the top of it, it said they were sent by "Mrs. Hobart's Emigration Fund.

My mother's father and family also came to Canada courtesy of this association, coincidentally in 1870.
