I'm looking for my ancestor William Mart who came out from England to Canada sometime before 1841. He was born in 1818 in Berkshire and had settled in the Kingston area of Ontario by 1844.
I would love to know if anyone could point me in the right direction towards finding such records or ones specific to William himself.
Cheers, Cameron

Hi, Thank you for that.
I am not sure if the death record you listed is my William as I have come across it before.
I am particularly interested in his arrival in Canada and life in the 1820-1850s.
Cheers, Cameron

Why do you think the death in Brant for William Mart is not him
He are living in Brant in 1871 and 1881 he and Amanda married in Brant
although in Dundas with his son in 1891, he says he is Salvation Army faith the death info gives religion as Salvation Army he is the only William Mart in Ontario in that time frame
so the odds are more than good it is him
as he died at the H. of Refuge Brantford Twshp the informant may not have know his exact age.

I have always had a suspicion that it was him however his birth data and place were incorrect. I also haven't been able to find him on the 1901 census. It also says he was married but his wife Amanda died in the 1880s?
You said he died in a H. of refuge, Brantford. I have just noticed that on the cert. Would that be a poor house etc...?
