One of the difficulties is that the records in old Quebec are not very good. A lot are missing, and there wasn't much government recording at the time. This became pretty clear to me when I started researching in 1600's France, and found the records so much nicer (well, they're still kind of a nightmare in their own right). But relatively quite a bit more complete. For the life of me, I can't remember where I got the record info about your questioned connection below. I'll keep looking though.
