Thnak yoiu for the Info! I am sure we are related some how but I haven't been able to fill in the blanks. The very first Sanguinet to come to Canada from France was Simon Sanguinet. I have more info about where he came from in France and what the surname means if you are interested.

Brandi, I am interested in researching back from Simon Sanguinet(the first in Canada) trough his father Joseph to other relatives in France.
I'm a descendent of Simon-Charles-Simon-Frederick Paul-etc. (The Saint Louis line.)
Any help you or others can give would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Louis

Louis and Gary. I haven't logged into Ancestry.com in quite a while. Sorry i missed your replyies on the message board. The fololowing informaiton is what I have about he ancestor's I think we have in common. I am descended from Charles' son Chalres Christopher and his son Felix who changed the spelling of my last name. ------------------------------------------------------------------ The name Sanguinet means fiery and refers to a locality known as "a blood red land" or " a cornel tree plantation". Joseph Sanguinet is the earliest ancestor I have been able to trace in the Sanguinet line. He was born in France and was a Surgeon Major in Font-les-Bains, Rousillon, France. He was also a founder of a golf club, which is still in existence and located some 170 km south of Paris. His son Simon was born in France and was appointed as a notary in New France (Canada) from 1734-1747. He married in 1729 and began a family. Two of his grandsons Charles and Ambroise are memorialized for sacrificing their lives in the revolts against the British in 1837 and 1838. The British hanged them for treason in 1838. (I have not been able to trace their connection to Simon in the family tree yet). Simon's son Charles was born in Montreal, Quebec between 1737 and 1740. He married Veronique Cardin in 1770 and in 1775 moved to St. Louis. After his wife's death in 1779, he married Marie Anne Conde, the daughter of the first surgeon of the city. In St. Louis, Charles was a successful trader and in his business operations had acquired a considerable fortune. On July 14, 1806, he was appointed Captain of the First Company of the Militia of the Territory of Louisiana, District of St. Louis.

How are you coming along with your search? I am also descended from Simon Sanguinet. I may have some information you don't.

Hi Reuben, Are you by chance related to the Reuben Sanguinet (b. 1874) son of Frederick Sanguinet of St. Louis, Missouri? Frederick was my g-g-grandfather, the son of Simon Sanguinet, also of St. Louis. Simon's father was Charles Sanguinet of Quebec, Canada. Looking forward to hearing from you. Rose
