I live in the United States and we do not have an official government organization to grant arms to citizens. Pity! I do not qualify for honorary arms in Britain because I was adopted and I am not able to trace my lineage back to Britain. I am interested to learn of how United States citizens may register their arms. I have designed assumed arms and have various well-produced paintings of my assumed arms. My arms have been copyrighted but that only protects the design. I would like to know what the heraldic organizations are in the United States because I would like to have my arms published in as many armorials as possible. I am looking for well-established societies with published armorials that may be ordered. I think that will help to legitimate my assumed arms. Since I am a United States citizen I only want to deal with American heraldic organizations. I have heard of the American College of Heraldry and I understand that they register arms. I also understand that their armorials come in volumes that may be purchased. Are there other organizations? I don’t own my own business so using my arms as a trademark is not a possibility.
