Using a Crest as a Badge.

In 1989 in we commissioned a search by the College of Arms, London, of the surname Plowman. Nothing came up relevant to my family and my father was subsequently granted Arms.

A few years later it came to light that my great grandfather’s generation of the family had been using, what must be, an assumed Crest of:

Hawk, wings expanded and inverted, standing on a serpent nowed. (My best guess at the blazon.)

Rather than let this bit of family history go by default and, given that we do now have a legal Crest, is it possible to transform the assumed Crest into a Badge (albeit assumed at this time)?

I have attempted to illustrate the Crest/Badge (I was going to attach a copy but it would not work). However,my work is limited to using the combination of MS Paint & MS Powerpoint. Does anyone know of any good quality graphics or clipart on the Internet of serpents & hawks that I could use to improve the quality of the image?
