My father recently obtained the family coats of arms from a relative in switzerland and would like to alter it to reflect the canadian heritage of the family name. Wondering if rules of cadency would apply? He would like to add the canadian flag or parts of it to the coat of arms.
Anyone have an answer to this. Pa does not want to offend the root ancestors.
