HI, I saw on the web that you will help design a coat of arms free of charge. I am very interested in obtainning our family surname. We just found out what our real surname is (my dad was raised in a orphanage). His father came from Poland, and his father was born 1879 in Bialobrzegi, Galicia. This is who we like to we like to focus on . If that was a typo I read on your site, please inform me as to the cost of your services.
Respectfully, Joy Whyte

Hi there Joy,
Yes, that is correct, we are a non-fee charging Association. However, may I ask you first to read about the AAH and their policies and the use of personal heraldic insignia, by viewing the applicable webpages to be found at: << http://freepages.family.rootsweb.com/~heraldry/homepage.html >>. After that, if you find that you cannot legitimately claim inheritance to a previous grant to one of your possibly armigerous ancestors, you would have to give us some background. If you do not wish to disclose family business in public on this forum, you might like to contact one of our Associates/Members by establishing a private email link by means of making direct contact with the Associate/Member whose specialty appears to match your ancestry [ see << http://freepages.family.rootsweb.com/~heraldry/homepage.html... >> for further info]. After all that, you must have patience as heraldry is a science and has very strict rules of compliance. We look forward to assisting you.
Best wishes,
Geoff Kingman-Sugars

I will give you what little info I have. As I said earlier my father had just found out his real surnsme is WOJTYNA. G/grandfather was Franzisek Wojtyna born 1879 in Bialogrzegi, Lancut Galicia. He could speak 5 lang, Polish, German, Russian, Ukrainian, Czechoslovakian and English. Acording to W.F. Hoffman, the origin and meaning of the name WOJTYNA can come from either of two roots. Name came from the first name Wojciec, an ancient Slavic name meaning "war-joy". possibly meant in the sense of "this child be a joyful warrior, may he find joy in battle. Other possibility is from the noun wojt (line over the o), an official in charge of a district covering several villages. Wojtyna makes sense as meaning "kin of the wojt" or even"wife of the wojt"; that suffix -yna is often added to a word to indicate a married female, so that "wojt's wife" is especially plausible. The largest numbers lived in the following provinces: Katowice, Kielce, Przemysl, Rzeszow (where Lancut was in) and Zamosc. To prove which derivation is correct I would have to research, but it would be doubtful that I would uncover any records, a name like this was developed centries ago. Idon't know if this is going to help, this is about all I have on our name. Please let me know if this will help.
Respectfully
Joy

Wojtyna means "On Wójty" or "Of Wójty", Wójty is a town in Poland. My name Woitena is the english translation of Wójtyna. I do not know of a coat of arms though. Try using the Polish word for coat of arms in your search, which i do not know. But yeah that is what Wójtyna means.

Unfortunately, this is a 'Heraldry and Coat of Arms enquiry' message board, not a 'meaning of surnames' message board.
