According to family story, John D. left his family behind in Kentucky due to a feud over the Civil War. He ultimately settled in Columbus, Indiana. He named one of his sons John Watterson Lyle, presumably out of great admiration for the Kentucky politician. I cannot find the names of his parents. As a child, my parents traveled to Kentucky to see the family home. My memory is kind of foggy on the matter but I think the home was in Lexington or Bowling Green. It was a typical antebellum style home surrounded by acreage. There were horses grazing in the field surrounding the house. One aunt, as Fannie M. Lyle supposedly kept in touch with the Kentucky family her whole life. Any suggestions?
