My 3rd great grandmother, Mary, married my 3rd great grandfather Reuben Nichols. Their names are inscribed on a stone marker for the Moffetsville Missionary Baptist Church, as they were some of the founding church members. There on the marker, their surname is spelled Nicolas.

Mary was at least 3/4s (or "75%") Choctaw. There is a story of Native Americans stopping by her home when they traveled through Mobile County. She was born around 1859 - 1862 in Mississippi.

Unfortunately, I do not have her maiden name so am unable to confirm this story. Neither can I look for her on an Indian Census. Her children with Reuben (or Ruben) were Frozine, Russell, Jerry, William, Amanda, Gilroy, and Janey/Janet.

In 2006/2007, I believe my 3rd great grandmother's spirit came to help me regain some sense of solid ground. I am looking to reconnect with her.
