BERNSRoland A. Berns, 81, of
Prairie du Chien, formerly of Monona,
Iowa, died Friday, May 23, 2003, at
Prairie Health Care Center in
Prairie du Chien. Roland was born March 9, 1922 to Louis and Clara (
Harter)
BERNS in rural Garnavillo,
Iowa and also attended school there. He married Virginia
Vaske in 1945, she died in December of 1963. He later married Lorraine Lestina in 1969, she also preceded him in death. He later married Elizabeth
Schwartzhoff in 1987. Roland farmed in the Monona,
Iowa area from 1959 until 1985. He moved to
Prairie du Chien in 1993. Surviving are his wife Elizabeth (Betty); 10 children, Dave (Marla)

BERNS of Rochester, Minn. Services were Monday at St. Gabriel's Catholic Church in
Prairie du Chien and burial in St. Patricks Cemetery, Monona,
Iowa. The Thornburg-Hanson Funeral Home in
Prairie du Chien assisted the family.
