I am still researching the JILOTE surname. I have included ELOTE (the name that was used in 1930 TX Census of Fort Bend). And of course there are the very old spellings of XILOTE and XILOTL.

OMG thank you so much this is so cool. So my personal email is natsilva13@yahoo.com. Bertha was my grandmother and I guess that makes Cornelio my great-great grandfather. But Bertha's mom was Sara Leyvas so I think that was before he married Esperanza. So I am new to this family tree and am trying to trace our Indian heritage, if there's anything you can tell me about that I would really appreciate it. I live in San Jose, ca. How about you?

Hello, my name is Claudia Najera... Yolanda Leyvas is my mother, Esperanza was my Grandmother and Cornelio Leyvas was my Grandfather. Some of the location info on here is incorrect but I looked over the lists here and everyone is related to our fam. I had 16 aunts & uncles from just the Leyvas side (currently there are 12 living) & at last count, there are just under 200 family members. I believe I met Bertha when I was very little (I'm 33 now) and I have heard Nicks name mentioned by my aunts.
Lots of Christmas cards huh. Hahaa...I have barely started this family tree thing on here, mostly us cousins just email our text. You can reach me at thesdkid@hotmail.com and we can swap info.

Re: Barron from Guanajuato, Mexico

Hello Martha
I am not sure that this information will help you but here goes. My paternal grandfather was Jesus Trevino Barron. He was Barron on his mother side (my g-grandmother), her name was Belen Barron - My father tells me that she was from Spain orginally - I don't know where was her port of entry into Mexico. She lived in Nuevo Leon and Coahuila. Her children lived in Coahuila, Nuevo Leon, Tamaulipas, Texas. We reside in California (USA) and we have many relatives living in Texas and Tamaulipas. We have lost all connection with relatives in Nuevo Leon. I don't have any information on her parents or siblings. She was married to Julian Trevino. My father olso tells me that one of them was Urrutia but does not know which one. This information all comes from my father - I don't have any birth or death certificates to authenticate what my father has shared on his side of the family. I have been researching the dates 1845 to the present trying to follow their children's migrations into the state of Texas. Hope you found what you were looking for. If you are interested in sharing your side you can e-mail me at enero58_etctrev@sbcglobal.net.

I have traced the name from Spain to Mexico in the armies of Hernan Cortez. After Cortez conquered the Mayas and Toltec in Mexico, he split his military forces in two, keeping one half at the garrison in Tenochitlan (Mexico City), the other half he sent to South America to conquer the Inca. From there Ronquillo's were sent to the Phillipine Islands to establish trading concessions with the chinese and establish colonies.

Per notes of Rosa B. Ronquillo:

Rosa identifies Manuel Ronquillo as her half brother and the oldest son of her father - (1st marriage)Jesus R. Ronquillo b. 1829 .

She also identifies Florentino R. Ronquillo as the younger brother(and the only other family member to survive attack). When her father came to AZ, Florentino remained in CA and she believed he probably died there but wasn't sure..

Jesus B. Ronquillo (son of Jesus R.-3rd marriage & full brother to Rosa) named one of his sons, Florentino for his dad's brother. This son died in Cochise County several years ago.

I know that the chances of the original poster reading this reply is slim-to-none, but maybe this info will help someone else. I married into the Marines family (husband's name Samuel Marines Vazquez, son of Samuel Marines Castillo & Maria de la Luz Vazquez Puebla). While doing some research into his family history, I came across some (probably) unrelated Marines... Nemecio (husband) & Eduviges (wife) Marines who emigrated to Texas in the late 1700's, in the process Nemecio changed his name to Roger Mitchell. This may not be much help, but I hope it's some. That's all the information I have on Nemecio or the Mitchell's that resulted in Texas... all my information is on the Marines family of Coahuila, Mexico.

She was born in Lorado,Texas Webb county. But lived most of her life in Monteray,Mexico. Some of their children were born there and the rest were born in Albuquerque, new Mexico.
if any of these names are familar please let me know.

Child's Name to Include Mother's Maiden Name

I've been teaching my 7 year old daughter about using my maiden name hyphenated with her father's last name and about her heritage. My mother passed away recently and I want my daughter to understand who she is and where she comes from. Unfortantely, her dad (we're divorced) does not see it the same way. He has gone as far as to making a copy of her California birth certificate and calling me a "liar" since I told my daughter her name was T...L...Lopez-Lee. I will be going to family court in the next few months on other issues and am considering requesting the courts allow me to change my daughter's name to include my last name hyphenated with her fathers. I'd like to find as much "legal" information that I can present to the courts hopefully proving my daughter's "civil" right to have my last name included in her's. I changed my last name back to my maiden name (Lopez) at the time of my divorce so I think including my last name in her name will make her life easier to be associated with "her mother". Can you tell me where I might find "legal" information on something like this?

Hi,
I am afraid I know nothing about Chief Wolf Wanna. I do, however, have a business card from him and was looking at it and decided to "Google" the name. This message board/thread came up.
I don't remember clearly where I was given it except that it was in the early 1970s. I seem to recall the name "John Wanna" as being a friend of a friend and I believe he gave the card to me. This was in New York (Long Island) and the John Wanna who gave it to me would now be in his 50s or early 60s.
I'd be happy to scan it and send a picture if you like. Send a reply to my email (if you ever read this...)
Arthur F
