Janus,Janusz, Janos, Yanus/Paylo 1883 to McKeesport PA. His location is Karcsava, Ung megye(Hungary now)
(John Janus Sr.) Janusz, Janos Karasava 17 1883-1884 1901 into ellis Island records , NY. He is my 2nd great grandfather his first name in English John. I am trying to locate records on him or his family, he also wrote he was from Sejkov. His mother written Anna Gaso ( Gazo in Slovak) on his miner's card and death certificate. I canot search anymore on Radix, no definite religion or relatives..nothing comes up nor in family search records prior to info I have supplied here.
Story has it he came over when his mother died 1899?) (I'm assuming from cholera as it was a primary reason for 20% of the population to emigrate during these years.) I cannot locate a definite record from Slovakia on either of them and the SS records I ordered and death records are void of information as well :(
I cannot locate marriage records for them, their children nor baptism records and all children were born in PA-there are two 1910 census with my family and another Identical in names even the children! Years of emigration are different on them so Langsford record I do not believe to be mine..
He married Anna Paylo, 3/5/1885-6/1977, possibly from Dubravka, Butkovce. The name has been seen on marriage records as pallo, palof, pallof and Palov. Apparently their children had no clue (all deceased now). anna had a twin Eva married to Michael Timko and had a daughter Ann (deceased) and Margaret (Vasko) (deceased) her son was Paul Vasko. I know nothing about Eva just found her and aquired this info via a contant on findagrave.com
John came over in 1903. I am trying to find her side and his, we know nothing other than no known connection with West Mifflin/Dusquesne, PA. area Palyo/Janus families nor the Texas or Arizona ones, not verified but lines lead to no at this point. They were in Versailles, PA, Pleasant Hills, Liberty, and Port Vue. They had a large farm, John Janus 6/29/1883- (Yanus) and Anna(Palyo), 8 children, Andrew (911), John, Mary Mae, Anna, Joseph, Edward, Helen, Margaret. They are buried at St. Joes in McKeesport, PA.
I have the only picture I know of with Anna and her twin Eva from 1800's in PFD form if any one replies, thanks.
