Just this week, I learned through Family Finder that my DNA shows I am almost 88% Orcadian and thus may have Viking heritage. Since you seem to know "Scotland" you realize Orcadians are from the island of Orkney.
Previously I learned through research that my Scots-Irish were from Scotland and emigrated to Northern Ireland prior to emigrating to America, so perhaps children born or a generation in Ireland before emigration.
I recognize no Orcadian surnames other than Miller and Wilson and while I am aware Wilson could be Orcadian/Scottish/Scots-Irish, Miller is German according to documents I have.
I am certainly going to need a lot of help in discerning who my Orcadian ancestors are!
