SGT CO I INFANTRY
WORLD WAR I
SEPT 8 1892 - APRIL 18, 1961
He married Thora O. Varpness. She was born November 05, 1899 Cottonwood, Lyon Co., MN. They had their two sons, Andrew Clyde (December 06, 1925) and Robert Eugene (January 29, 1924) both born in Minneapolis, Hennepin Co., MN. I assume Thora and Andrew married in MN.
They later moved to Harmarville, Allegheny Co., Pennsylvania around the 1920's where Andrew Anton Warsik was an Iron worker building bridges around Pittsburg, PA. He also grew lots of Tomatoes for Heinz Co. They lived along the Allegheny river.
After they retired, they lived in Florida. April 18, 1961Andrew Anton Warsik died & is Buried: Jacksonville Memory Gardens, Orange Park, FL
and Thora died December 30, 1983 & is Bur: Roselawn Cem., Tallahassee, Leon Co., FL
In 1943 Thora worked at Gulf Research & Development Co. P.O. Drawer 2038, Pittsburgh 30, PA.
The Allegheny Valley School District 1942 yearbook shows Robert Eugene Warsik along with 11 other classmates. His senior quote: "Einstein's theories may stump him, but blue print reading doesn't."
Some of his classmates were: 1) Elaine Sweet, 2) Bertha Tady, 3) Paul Timashenka, 4) Joseph Tomiczek, 5) Ann Toth, 5) Lucille Trobian, 6) Irene Tutak, 7) Josephine Valasek, 8) Anna Marie Walters, 9) Robert Weaver, 10) Walter Wenzel
Andrew and Thora's children thought that their father was of Polish ancestry because of his thick accent. His death certificate states his birthplace was Austria and spells his name was Warsik. The name Warsik used to be spelled Warosik before the social security administration altered the spelling of his name because of pronunciation misunderstanding. But, both of his sons spelled their name as Warosik on their social security application records in 1941 so the change in spelling must have occurred after that.
