Dear Janice, Thank you so much for looking! I don't have any more info, and will abandon that search until a clue pops up, which it always does somehow. This is not immenent to my research, but thank you for your efforts on my behalf! Do you do this very often? I have some other areas where I've hit a brick wall, I'd love to have some help with. Don't mean to overstep! I actually just met an Italian genealogist, so I am hopeful in working with him for my Italian ancestors. Again, thank you very much. Helen

Angelo,

I am the grandson of Andrew and Tesse Parise. My father was also Fred. All of my aunts and uncles with the exception of my oldest aunt are now deceased. I just recently found out that my grandfather was widowed before marrying my grandmother and I have relatives in the US I have never met. Can you tell me the first names of the Parise's in Marcedusa?

I used to visit friends in Reading that relocated to Philadelphia. I used to love to go up the mountain and just enjoy the wonderful views from there.

Hope you are well

Fred Parise

I am Fred's son. There was Rose (sho died as a child)James, Robert, Lilian, Fred (born 12/25/1913) Mary Grace aks Marie (still living somewhere in Pittsburgh, I think in nursing home) and Rita (born 03/11 circa 1925) all except Marie are deceased. Did your father have any siblings? Did your aunt or mother work in Monroeville at one time? I am in Cleveland now and would like to meet you. I can show you your great grand fathers grave. There used to be a picture on the head stone but some member of the family had it replaced. He is buried with his in-laws Tessies parents. I believe at ont time Andrew owned a store in the hill. My father went to Sr. Agnes not part of Carlow University in the lower hill. He died in 1995 shortly after his 51st birthday
My sister Pat is going to look for pictures of Tessie and any other relatives. I lost all of mine in a flood a few years back. Maybe we can meet up with Jim's daughter, she has lots of old photos. fnp14534@sbcglobal.net

Fred
Was your father Robert Parise or Fred Parise? Do you have any photos of your Grandparents?
My grandfather Ralph was the son of Andrew from his first wife Rose Ciccone (died Before 1905).
He then married "Tresse" Teresa and had Vincent, James, Robert, Fred, Lillian and Marie (the ones I know of).
Would love to see a photo of Andrew or Teresa!
Regards,
Dennis

My grandmother Teresa survived him for many years and died in the 70's. he is buried in Clavery in Homestead PA and she is buried in Queen of Heaven. I have heard he had other sons than my father and uncles and one was named Ralph. Unfortunately there is no one of that generation left to tell the real srory. Hope I helped a little

I'm not sure what you mean by wanting to fix the census information. I'm guessing you mean in some type of database. But there is no way to change the information on any document that I know of. My husband's Italian relative is on Ellis Island data base with the names reversed, last name first, and there is no way for me to make a correction to that. As it happens, his family is from the Potenza area also, but a different town, Brienza.

No, I did not have the 1910 census! Im so happy you found it. Yes its got to be them, even though the names are not correct. It looks like someone went in and changed (tried to correct it) my grandfathers name to something else which is also incorrect, how can I fix that?? He went by the alias James Costa, his real name was Sebastian Bertuca. Anthony and the families last name was Cuda not Cooder. Anthony died in 1913 and Angelina ended up marrying my Grandfather Sebastian "James"
Thank you so much for finding it for me :) I will pass it on to the rest of the family.

Not sure if you already have this, but the 1910 census in Wilkins PA on Highland Ave, has a Tony Cooder 30 IT, wife Angeline 24 IT, Frank 8, Patrick 6, William 2, and Joseph 6 mos (b. abt Oct 1909). Also with them is Tony's brother in law, looks like Domick Chance 37 IT, his wife ?Foncie 25 IT, wed 12 yrs, ?Sapatha 7, Mary 6, Dick 4, Andrew 2, and a boarder, JAMES COSNICK 26, IT, says arrived 1907. All children born PA.

Still could not find arrival for James, Sebastian, or Giacomo (which I think translates to James).

I'm not related.

Step-brothers of Tobias Chieffi (b. 1895 in Wilkes-Barre) & Frank Angelo Chieffi (b. 1897 in Wilkes-Barre). Their mother, Congetta (nee) Giovino: unsure of her marriage status. Pellegrino and Salvine changed their surnames: first to Stauff. Salvine kept it for the rest of his life and family's name. Pelligrino changed his from Stauff to Staffa. Pellegrino, on his 1907 marriage/wedding certificates has his surname as Stauff and names his father only as Sabino. Angelo Chieffi, father of Tobias & Frank Angelo, raised all 4 boys from infancy in Wilkes-Barre. He and Congetta, (and her brother Antonio di Feliciano Giovino) are laid to rest in St Marys Cemetery in Hanover Twp, PA. See 1910 Wilkes-Barre census for further confusion. Chieffi name spelled phonetically: Ckeiffi. SEEKING THEIR PROPER LINEAGES! Whew! Please help me if you can! Thank you! Richard Stauff stauffr @ yahoo.com See Ancestry. com account: "Orchard Supply" for more info. Thanx again!

Relatives of DeCesare or DiCesare from Villavallelonga

Looking for relatives of Cesidio DiCesare, changed to DeCesare, born about 1843 in Villavallelonga, Abruzzo, Italy, who immigrated with 6 children to New York in 1887 and his wife Filomena Marcinelli DiCesare changed to Marchinelli DeCesare. The childrens names were Frank b.1870, Emmanuel b1873, Michael b.1874, Eleanor b.1876, Madeleine b.1878, Dominico b.1880 and Joseph b. 1883 all in Italy. Joseph was my husband's grandfather, met and married Archangela Palmieri in Fresno, California, had 4 children there and in So. Dos Palos, California and died in 1939 in Half Moon Bay, California. Frank DeCesare had 2 children, a boy and girl and died in Pennsylvania. Emmanuel might have lived there too. Looking for any connections.

I am researching the Mussari family from Marcedusa. My Mussari relatives came to Carbondale and Honesdale PA, and briefly to Newburgh, NY from Marcedusa during the first decade of the 1900s and on the ship manifests from ellis island records I have seen them traveling numerous times with Parise family members from Marcedusa to PA. I have learned that the Mussaris and Parises were close families. Given the size of Marcedusa, I believe we must be talking about the same Parise family.

Barry;

Good to hear from someone. I have had a great deal of trouble trying to figure out this family. I'm met several, but they are so many and I do't Italian and can't keep track of who is who.

I'm leaving for Memorial day weekend to go to Pittsburgh for a few days. My son and daughter in law bought a new home and I'm going up to see it. Had them down here to help my daughter move last month. They were able to spend a day in Tarpon springs and another at Disney before they headed back to the cold frozen wastelands of Pittsburgh!

Where are you? I'd love to get together and share whatever info I have. Maybe have something new to share with the kids.

Have a good weekend.

AnneMarie

Victor;

Nice to hear from you. I called Scott and Bea last night and chewed them out for not calling. Since they moved a month ago, they have been busy with work and fire department and Scott's been doing lots of extra jobs. Seems like a house costs a great deal of money!

We spent Thanksgiving last year with them in Pittsburgh and went to see your mom and dad. We had a great time with them and wish we had a chance to get to know them better

I would love to get some information from you about the family. Bea and Rocco have given me some, but it is very disorganized. Who I think are aunts and uncles, might be cousins, or the wrong generation. I've got a great deal of Bea's information from a file she gave me about her mom and dad, but seems like some names have been Americanized and I can't follow who is who. If you are interested in Scott's family, I have a great deal of information. Most of it from my familys. Unfortunately, my ex husband's family is from Greece. I recently got a family listing of his grandmother's family, but it's all in Greek and have not been able to get it translated yet.

Today is Scott and Bea's 2nd anniversary. It certainly doesn't seem like 2 years ago. She is such a beautiful woman and I truly love her as my own daughter. Wish they were closer. I think she would move here tomorrow, but as much as Scott misses his sisters, he would never leave the Fire department.

Would love to hear from you and compare notes.

AnneMarie
