We just found out today that we have a Garris ancestor.
Anna Garris married John or Johann Thomson.
They lived in Harrisburg,PA,Delphine County.
We have a marriage certificate for Richard Thompson and Josephine Nolden that states his mother was Anna Garris she was American born German.Father John Thomson was German born.Notice the name variation.Richard Thompson was probably born 1859,because his marriage certficate was 1886, he was 27 years old.
Please contact us if you have any further information on the parents of either of these names.

I do not know any thing about your Anna Garris, but I have been researching the name for 20+ years and all of the people with that surname that I have been able to find are dec of Amos Garris/Garyson who came to the eastern shore of VA in the middle 1600’s. He was English. I have long suspected that some of his dec may have migrated to PA, especially since I have only been able to find information on 1 or 2 lines in the family. I would not be supprised if they did migrate to PA, particually southern part, that they would have intermarried with the germans there and picked up their language.
