My GGGrandfather, William Lynch, was born in Lancaster Co. about 1829. He stated that he was born on or near the state line. Noticed that Lynch was in your surname list. Hope there may be a connection. Am looking for any information about his parentage.

Thank you,
Gordon Lynch

By posting this query, I was hoping to learn something about Catharine Elizabeth Lynch, born 10/13/1861 in PA, married George Leander Pierce 12/25/1888 and died 1/16/1937. They owned a store in Lancaster, PA. She is buried in Rising Sun, MD. Her father was Granville Alexander Lynch, born 1829 & died 1862. Do you know anything about your GGGrandfather's siblings?

Thank you for your response. I am afraid I do not have any information yet about William Lynch's siblings. It sounds a little to me like he was raised by another family, it's only a hunch based on the fact that he said he was taken from his place of birth at the age of 3, rather than saying his family moved to NY. The only other fragment I have about William's parentage is that two census records state that his parents were not foreign born. Good Luck with your search. Please let me know if you "bump" into him. By the way, do you know the father of Granville Alexander Lynch, or his place of birth?

Surnames: Shank, Rether
I'm searching for information related to a male Shank married to a female Rether in Butler/Adams County, PA sometime between 1865-1880. The 1880 census lists these families next to each other. They were married, had three children, Charles Garfield, George, and Ethel. These children were raised by their maternal grandmother, as their parents died (we don't know how or when) at an early age.
