The term "colored," depending on the census year, can mean person of color (Indians, Asian Indians, Asians, Filipino, etc.) or Negro. There were census years where the term Negro and Black were used, and it actually meant Indian. And there are census years where white included Indians. So, race classification is always questionable when tracing American Indian heritage.
