After many years, I am just now picking up where I had tried to start genealogy before. I am a descendant of this Henry Clay Thomas Raines (although I did not even know his name until just now doing random internet searches) My maternal grandmother was Lillie Irene Raines Cato. Her oldest daughter, Mary Jean Cato, gave birth to me. I stayed with my grandmother most of my life and she would tell stories that she was a part indian. She looked it as well as her brothers, Uncle Joe and Uncle J. T. best I can remember. I do remember she said it was NOT Choctaw. She said her people were not originally from Mississippi or Alabama. I am very interested in finding the truth out about this folklore, and connecting ancestral ties, especially now since all my grandparents as well as my parents have passed on. Please contact me,
