Pres. Andrew Jackson in 1830 passed the Indian Removal Act and promised 5 tribes land west of the Mississipi (Indian Territory)Not only were the Cherokee's one of these tribes but also the Chickasaw's,Chocktaw's.Seminole's,and Creek's the reason for the name Trail Of Tears is because so many people did not survie this journey and there are many trails because all these tribes were not just from one area but the Cherokee's were mainly from Tennessee and North Carolina so you might want to begin your search in the eastern part of the country were they are from

Hi, John or Johnas as he was known to many, including my GGgrandmother, was a Chickasaw Freedman, and a medicine man.
This is some info on him. He was a beautiful man, and married 3 times, and had many children. Both his first and second wife were full blood Chickasaw. This is also stated by Epsie,s father, on his Dawes record. He had been a slave. This is some info on him that might help you. He was also said to be 115 years old when he died. I don,t know if that is true. My ggrandmother attended his funeral. He was known by many people. Good luck.

I BELIEVE YOU ARE RELATED TO MY HUSBAND, ELVIS JOHNSON THE YOUNGEST CHILD OF ROBERT AND ANNE (UNDERWOOD-BROWN) JOHNSON. IF THIS IS TRUE MAYBE WE CAN COMPARE TREES AND SEE WHAT IS MISSING ON THEM OR WHAT EVER THE CASE MAY BE. THANK YOU
