Just briefly looking at the web you posted mentions Obediah Martin Benge. Might in fact be the same Obediah Benge that married an Elizabeth Ware in Surry County 1780's. You also have Rev War Vet Obediah Martin in Surry. He was at Kings Mountain along with his brother Sathiel Martin. A lot of men that settled in our area were at Kings Mountain.

Obediah Benge actual marriage bond Surry NC

and also under investigation Bryan Ward may have been briefly in Burke County before moving on to GA. Need to order Burke tax records but very possible Bryan Ward too came out of Albemarle VA Ward family. Just like the Benge family and Genral J's family were in Albemarle

Here are the Cherokee land sales (actual court records) done by Samuel Finley Patterson and W H Thomas/William Holland Thomas is there. Page further down the bottom of this web to Cherokee land sales volumes 1,2 and 3 and read the records http://www2.lib.unc.edu/mss/inv/c/Cherokee_Lands_Salesbooks....

I know other people at this sale and wonder if they gave the Cherokee some land too. I dont believe William Holland thomas worked alone on this and it was a cash sale so he might have had silent partners so to speak
