William Holland Thomas, Buncombe County was formed from Burke and Rutherford Counties. All of Western NC was Rowan County. First two counties formed from Rowan were Surry and Burke. Wilkes formed from Surry and this would include partrs of TN before TN was a state.

Hildebrand--Hildebran Town Burke County (you can find it on google maps) it today is still in Burke county just west of Catawba County ( Catawba formed from Lincoln). You will find Clein and Rhyne/Rhine town in Catawba county today. The Elder Hildbrands are buried in Burke
