To all Alabama-Coushatta researchers

Hi,
I am the administrator of this message board. I've noted that many of the researchers here are asking questions based on the Alabama-Coushatta Tribe of Texas.
If you believe your ancestor was an Alabama, Albamu, or Coushatta (various spellings), please be sure to read the Handbook of Texas Online for an excellent history of these tribes. You'll find a link to that under "Links and Announcements" on this board.
See if your ancestors followed a migration path similar to these tribes. Check for locations of towns, villages, etc. to see if your ancestors lived in some of those same areas.
Your ancestors may have been members of these tribes and not necessarily in the records of the Alabama-Coushatta Tribe of Texas.
