looking for info

I do not know too much about my ex-husbands family, I do know that his, I believe, great-grandmother walked the Trail of Tears and is Cherokee. I do know she refused to register. With that little info, it is now very hard for me to register our daughter (I do not keep contact with him at all). I do not have a lot of money to pay people to search for me, especially with little info. Any info would be absolutly helpfull.

That's a bit of a stretch, as the Cherokee Trails of Tears were in the 1830s. There may well have been more generations involved than you realize. But the key point is that to register your daughter you have to prove her descent from an enrolled member and her quantum state. If her father's great-grandmother refused to register it's going to be next to impossible. I certainly don't mean to discourage you from researching her heritage!

Thank you for the reply and the honesty. I knew it might be a little farfetched, but I wanted to see if it may have been possible, if there was anything or anyone out there that would or could possibly help.

Tammy, I saw your other post also. Did your ex Michael ever register? The Cherokee agency is in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. All records are there. If he registered you can register your daughter with her birth certificate.
