Manerva married James Gilbert who had been married before. They only had one child a girl Isabelle Blue. The other children in the household was probably from James first marriage. As the story goes, by Minnie her gdaughter, she was a full blooded Cherokee but would not talk about it. This information was passed down from Ibbi, Manerva daughter. Because she did not read or write, the person who recorded the marriage between James and Manerva spelled her name as Polly. This is where we come to an end. She was born in TN and she says her parents were both born in NC. She was married in MO. I will keep on trucking. I do not think she is a relative of a Chief named Polly. I have found family name with the spelling Pauley. Thanks for your help
