Vance, thanks for your reply. Somehow, I have not gotten notifications in my email until today. I had several replies to a very old post. Your name is familiar but perhaps it is your last name that resonates. I have read several books, recently Bonnie Ball's book: The Melungeons. I am interested in the names: Ingrum/ Ingram, Jenkins and on my paternal grandmother's side: Skelton. If I were to send you some photos of my people you would understand my curiosity. The men all had black hair, dark skin, high cheek bones and were all quite handsome. There are a few family anecdotes all told in jest, or so it seemed at the time. An early census record states that my fraternal grandfather was born in Tennessee, though I have not been able to verify that. He was born in 1816 and I found him in Indiana in the early 1800's. I appreciate finding others who share the same interest. Thanks again!
