I am up against a solid brick wall with all my lines. I desperately need help!! Need info on WILLIAM SIMON GOYNES b. 25Nov1871, father or uncle HAD/HADLEY GOYNES, possible family WILLIAM GOYNES in Surry Co. NC. GrPa Will S. G. was Choctaw. I do not know where he was born, but he lived in Polk Co., TX. There was a HADLEY GOYNES in Nacogdoches Co., TX filing on an inheritance from WILLIAM GOYNES, "free man of color", "Melungeon". This WILLIAM was a millionaire which was no small feat for a "free man of color". It is my belief that if this was a relative he was possibly, Choctaw/mix, but not AA. All the family were sort of short, small, dark people (they were color I've seen in other NA, they didnot have the chocolate brown skin), with straight black hair, light eyes and brown eyes. Their nose was like NA, high cheek bones, thin lips. My sister has the Indian hair, she calls it a horse's tail, I think it is beautiful. Please email me direct to (
lovieann@ijntb.net).
Thanks and Be Blessed,
Lorene
