I have 2 ggrandparents that came from Ireland. I was always told that my ggrandfather came from County Cork and that his wife came from Dublin. They both immigrated to the US seperately, married and lived in NJ. I found them in the census records and they both stated that they were from Northern Ireland. Does anyone know of any reason why they would say they were from Northern Ireland if they were not. I'd love to hear some thoughts on this. I've spent lots of years trying to find out where they are from in Ireland. Suggestions would be appreciated. They immigrated in the 1890's, born in the 1870's., if this helps.
