Re: RANTAUSKAS (RENTAUSKAS) family of Chicago
maybe my original surname of Rasimaucus is related? I have had a very hard time finding anything under that surname. I believe it might have been changed due to the fact that my Great-Grandfather-Jahn did not speak english and might have been mispelled by immigration. Let me know?

Thanks for your message. I haven't run into anything like that spelling in my research, but you're right that spellings can be various, so you need to experiment. How did your family pronounce the name? Sometimes I have found Sh sounds under sz. Don't know if that helps, but good luck in your searches.

Re: RANTAUSKAS (RENTAUSKAS) family of Chicago
Hi Michelle, Your dad would be about my generation, but I don't recall a James in the family. Who were his parents/grandparents? We lived in the Bridgeport area. Is any of this familiar? Hope to hear from you soon.

Re: RANTAUSKAS (RENTAUSKAS) family of Chicago
Hi Nicholas, it's possible your grandpa Bruno was my 2nd cousin, as we're about the same age (b 1952-3) and played together as kids. Did his parents have a tavern on Halstead St in Chicago?/Susan
