Hola everybody,
I'm a Cuban American, both my parents were from there. I recently took a DNA test on this website, and the results were 48% south European(obviously Spanish), 29% british isles( i had some Jamaican ancestors of british ancestry) 9% middle eastern( Kinda surprising, but there was middle east immigration to Cuba at one point), and 14% uncertain. Now, I think that ancestry.com has found out all of the European ancestry, because there really wasn't a whole lot of other Europeans there besides Spaniards and Portuguese, and there was some British and french. I think that the 14% is most likely native indigenous, because when the Spanish conquistadors came during colonization, they didn't bring any women, so they mixed with the natives, like everywhere else in Latin America, creating mestizos. These mestizo children were more immune to the diseases that Spaniards brought that wiped out a good portion of the natives in Cuba. Plus i heard a story from my family that my great grandmother was a indigenous native to Cuba, but I'm not sure. So what do you guys think? There's also a possibility that it's Black (Afro) Cuban or Chinese( there was Chinese immigration to cuba in the 1800s). So guys, if you could write your thoughts and ideas below, that would be great.
Thanks,
Jim
